It is with sadness that Auckland Rugby is informed of the passing of Life Member Barrie Hutchinson.
Barrie dedicated much of his life to the pursuit of rugby and provided invaluable support to the union over many years.
He represented Auckland from 1954-59 (#819) amassing 21 caps and 6 points in total.
1959 was arguably the pinnacle of Barrie’s legacy in the fabled blue and white hoops with the capture of the Ranfurly Shield.
Barrie was the cherished husband of Helen, father to Peter, John and Tanya, and grandfather of Max, Samuel, Ana and Sarah.
Auckland Rugby extends its condolences and support to Barrie’s family and friends at this time.
