After an impressive debut season for Auckland in 2008, Dean Budd was called into the Blues Wider Training Group this year and failed to disappoint, being promoted to the full squad and playing five matches.

An imposing, enthusiastic young flanker, Budd will be looking to establish himself as a key player in the Auckland squad in 2009.

Budd previously played for New Zealand Under-19s.
