An extremely exciting young prospect, Dave Thomas burst onto the scene in 2008 following an impressive performance for the New Zealand Barbarians against the All Blacks in Auckland.

Thomas was consequently selected for the Blues Wider Training Group and starred for Auckland last year, but a serious knee injury curtailed his season and ultimately dashed his chances of a call-up to the Blues squad.

A former Auckland Grammar School boy, Thomas played for the Auckland Colts for two years in a row and while he excels at fullback, he is also very adept at centre and wing.
