We would like to congratulate both Mt Albert Grammar Girls 1st XV and Tamaki College 1st XV on winning their respective competitions in 2021.

Although the secondary school season was cut short due to the recent lockdown, both teams put in the hard mahi and represented their communities on and off the field to come out on top of their competitions.

See a wrap of each team’s season below:

It was fantastic to see the Mt Albert Grammar Girls 1st XV playing again in front of a home crowd on the Sir BG Williams Field. Captain Sylvia Brunt and senior players led from the front with their attitude and skill helping many beginning players learn to love the game of rugby.

They always worked to make sure they were a team on and off the field and were well guided by a coaching group led by Tutu Tairea and Manager Allie Wright.

Tamaki College 1st 1C Champions 2021

What a journey it has been for the Tamaki College 1st XV squad in 2021. At the beginning of the year, we kicked off our pre-season with a camp that was aimed at bringing our boys together and uniting them in one purpose. This allowed the opportunity for our boys to connect and to get to know each other on another level.

As we progressed throughout the season, we managed to create a bond that would last a lifetime. As a team, we had put a huge focus on building a positive culture and positive relationships within the team, on and off the field and in the classroom.

On top of our list of things that we set out to achieve-our main goal and focus was to win the 1C competition. With the determination and hard work from both the players and the management group, we can now say that we have achieved this goal.

To win the competition overall is already a huge achievement but to go through undefeated is a reflection of the hard work and commitment from the team this season. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone without the support of our school and community but most importantly our families.  Thank you to our Village and Community for your support- We will celebrate this VICTORY together.
