Full-time Auckland 24 – Northland 17

Auckland Gulls have shown two weeks in a row that they can win tough games beating the Northland Taniwha 24 - 17.

The game kicked off with Kemara Hauiti-Parapara scoring a try after a scrum, right after Northland's Rob Rush was given a 10-minute penalty for repeated fouls near their 22-meter line.

Then, Xavi Taele added another try by outrunning Corey Evans and scoring in the corner after a second scrum.

A yellow card was shown to Angus Ta’avao for a high tackle on Lisati Milo-Harris, and Northland took advantage with a try from Heremaia Murray.

At halftime, Auckland led 12-5.

Five minutes into the second half, Tevita Latu was yellow-carded for a high tackle on Zarn Sullivan.

Auckland quickly capitalized, with Patrick Tuipolutu scoring after some short runs near Northland’s try line.

Bryce Heem followed with another try after a great line break by Soane Vikena.

But Northland didn’t give up.

Reserves Sam Nock and Quinton Nichols worked together to get the score closer to Auckland.

Rob Rush then scored another try for Northland, which would have made his dad, Eric Rush, proud.

Northland almost turned the game around when Rivez Reihana nearly scored, but he dropped the ball at the try line, letting Auckland secure the win.

On the same weekend, the Auckland Storm women’s team beat Bay of Plenty Volcanix 29-24.

Eloise Blackwell celebrated her 150th first-class game, becoming the 6th woman in Aotearoa to reach that milestone
