Young Auckland back Rieko Ioane leads the nominations at this year’s ASB Rugby Awards, up for Mitre 10 Cup Player of the Year, All Blacks Sevens Player of the Year and Tom French Memorial Maori Player of the Year.

Auckland Storm captain Fiao’o Fa’amausili follows on from her nomination for World Rugby’s Player of the Year with a nod for New Zealand Rugby Women’s Player of the Year and Niall Williams is nominated for Black Ferns Sevens Player of the Year.

Suburbs Stalwart Gary Donovan is one of three nominees for the Charles Monro Rugby Volunteer of Year. He was recognised at the Auckland Rugby Awards in October with the Ash Edwards Memorial Trophy for outstanding contribution rugby.

The awards will be held next Thursday at Sky City Convention Centre.
