Nestle Club Focus: Pakuranga

If you head along to Bell Park tomorrow you will notice something a bit different about the home team.

The Pakuranga premiers are raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation and will be wearing a pink and white charity strip.

Pakuranga Rugby’s Amanda Dyason said premier player David Whitecliffe Davies floated the idea after being involved with a similar initiative in the Bay of Plenty.

“Charities were nominated by the players and a vote had with the leadership group. It was a unanimous decision to choose the Breast Cancer Foundation,” said Dyason.

15 jerseys have already been sold, with the remainder set to be auctioned and raffled off tomorrow.

The jerseys are just one part of the fundraiser.

“There will be a high tea luncheon starting at 12.30pm with guest speakers Ann Ellwood and Leah Oakes who have both fought and survived breast cancer.

“The team aim is to raise $10,000 for the Breast Cancer foundation to help the many special ladies in our lives who have been affected by breast cancer,” said Dyason.

Pakuranga has put together an impressive range of raffles, hampers and other prizes to assist in their fundraising efforts.

“All of this would not have been possible without the generosity of so many, the support and respect this charity holds has been overwhelming."
