Strong sides assembled for the National Sevens

The Auckland Sevens teams for this weekend's National Tournament in Rotorua have been named. Both the Men and Women's sides are able to call on high calibre players in their attempt to claim national honours come Sunday afternoon.

The men are bolstered by All Blacks Sevens star Salesi Rayasi who is coming off an impressive showing particularly during the latest round of the World Sevens Series. Captain Rocky Khan is also one with vast sevens experience having competed in several tournaments for the national side throughout his career.

Coached by former national sevens representatives in Edwin Cocker and Tutu Tairea will see the side head into the tournament with high hopes.

The Women have even greater resource to call on with a plethora of national players available. Charlotte Scanlan, Niall Williams, Charmaine Smith, Tyla Nathan-Wong, Theresa Fitzpatrick and Kiritapu Demant could form an almost entire starting seven of national representaives alone, with plenty of young talent available within the squad also.

Coach Crystal Kaua has looked to instil an ethos of hard work and humility within this year's squad. Combining this with the talent of the Women's side will see them in good shape heading into the weekend.
