Pacific Rugby competitions are underway


The Pacific Rugby calendar is in full swing this week with four Pacific nations kicking off their competitions – Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tonga.

 

Samoa

This year is the 23rd Annual Auckland Samoa Men’s 15s Tournament. Newly elected President Tapuai George Sekene is “excited and looking forward to the 14-team competition” for 2018. The competition runs through to 13th October and is being played at Aorere Park in Papatoetoe.

Following the 15’s competition is the Auckland Samoa one-day 7’s tournament on 20th October.

Tonga

Tonga like Samoa will be in their 3rd week of play this coming Saturday 1st September. There are 8 teams in the Tongan Men’s 15’s competition being played at Barry Curtis Park, Botany. Kick off times are 13:00, 13:30, 14:30 and 15:00pm each week. The competition concludes on 13th October.

Cook Islands

In 2018 the Cook Islands have 3 competitions running in their season. The first being Men’s 15’s with 4 teams who will play over an 8-week period. This is between 1 Sep to 13 October. The second and third competitions is in the Junior grades for U15 and U18’s. There will be 10 aside rugby for Boys and 7’s for girls.  The Junior grades will play on Sep 29, Oct 6, 13, 20.

The Cook Islands games will be played at Norana Park, Favona.

Niue

It has been some time since Auckland Niue was operational in their rugby competition but are back with some momentum.  Niue will roll out 3 competitions over 2 one-day tournaments. On September 1st there will be Men and Women’s 7’s and then the following week on 8th September is a 10 aside Men’s tournament.

All Niue competitions will be played at Williams Park No.3 and DB Park, Mangere.
