The 135th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Auckland Rugby Union was held on Monday evening and came with some key personnel changes at Board and governance level.

Eroni Clarke, a veteran of more than 150 games for the blue and white hoops, was elected President and will look to oversee what is hoped to be a fruitful spell for the province off the back of their Mitre 10 Cup success in 2018.

“I bleed blue, and being able to use my experiences from on and off the field while also working with some amazing leaders at a governance level all the way down to the grassroots is a wonderful way to be able to contribute to Auckland Rugby and come alongside to grow the brand and the game,” said Clarke of his election as President.

Clarke replaces the retiring Bruce Gemmell.

Chris Fairbairn was elected as a new Director on a 4-year term, replacing the retiring Nicky Duggan who did not seek re-election. The retiring Andy Roberts did seek re-election and is on-board for another 4 years.

Glenn Wahlstrom was rewarded for a number of years of fine service to the union as an official, player and referee with election as a Life Member to the province.

Current Auckland Rugby Chairman Stu Mather retained his position as Chair of the Council of Delegates (COD) with Brent Metson a new election in the COD Deputy-Chair role.

Alongside the number of personnel changes, the AGM went to script with the Annual Reports accepted and Auditor approved.
