Auckland Rugby Club Update - March 27th

This has been an unprecedented week for New Zealand as we respond to the Covid -19 Pandemic.

We at Auckland Rugby have been working from home, but coming together as a team, to fully understand how rugby in our community has been impacted. Earlier this week we held a video conference call with our club chairs.  Our club rugby team has also been connecting with clubs individually.

This is a unique situation which continues to evolve. While we cannot provide any firm answers at this time, there are a lot of passionate and committed people working tirelessly to craft solutions and to ensure our community has the best opportunity to be prepared to return to play following the lifting of current restrictions.

The government has indicated the lockdown will last a period of 4 weeks, which means the targeted return to play date communicated by NZ Rugby (18th April) will need to be adjusted. This means revised seasons across the board. We will know more as the situation develops and can adjust to the situation accordingly.

Conversations with NZ Rugby are happening daily and we will provide updates as soon as new information comes to hand.

Our strength is in our community and it’s great to see clubs connecting with your communities online, creating unique content over the past couple of days. Auckland rugby is also currently creating and updating content to assist and support you during the lockdown.

We are all in this together and wish all our rugby whanau all the best during the lockdown.  Stay safe.
